SEARCH SUSPENDED FOR OVERDUE HUNTERS ON THE MANANA TRAIL IN PEARL CITY

On January 11, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 9:03 p.m. and responded to overdue hunters on the Manana Trail in Pearl City with 7 units staffed with 23 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 9:17 p.m and secured a landing zone to prepare for a search by air.

It was reported that a group of hunters were expected to return from a hunting trip at 7:30 p.m. but did not. Rescue personnel were inserted near the hunter’s last known location, which was approximately 4 hours prior to activating 911 while Air 1 searched from the air. Due to weather conditions in the area, the search for the hunters was suspended at 12:35 a.m. and was planned to resume at first light.

At approximately, 1:15 a.m., the Incident Commander was notified by the caller that the hunters were able to exit the trail on their own.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
