On January 24, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 15:28 p.m. and responded to a hiker in distress on the Diamond Head Crater Trail with 7 units staffed with 19 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 3:40 p.m. and ascended the trail on foot. Additional units established command and secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.
It was reported that a female hiker in her 50s experienced a medical emergency and was unable to descend the trail on her own. HFD personnel on foot arrived at the hiker’s location where they conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support. The hiker was then hoisted into the aircraft and safely transported to the nearby landing zone. Medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 4:08 p.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
