On January 24, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 1:44 p.m. and responded to a service call for water evacuation at 98-351 Koauka Loop with one unit staffed with four personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 1:52 p.m. to find water leaking on several floors. Two additional units were requested to assist with the incident.
Upon further investigation, the water leak was due to an activated fire sprinkler that extinguished a fire. The smoldering remains of a fire was located in an 11th floor unit. Personnel worked to remove as much water throughout the affected floors.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.
An investigation was initiated to determine the fire’s origin and provide damage estimates. The Fire Investigator determined the fire to be incendiary in nature and the damage estimate at $15,000.
