UPDATE: The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) Fire Investigator has classified the cause of the fire that occurred on January 21, 2026 at 4747 Kilauea Avenue in Kahala as accidental. The fire was caused by an overloaded surge protector. Six devices were plugged into the surge protector, including two high–current draw items. The damage estimate is $664,000 to the structure and its contents.
