HFD RESPONDS TO A HAZARDOUS MATERIALS INCIDENT IN KALIHI

On January 28, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 12:34 p.m. for a hazardous chemical near 838 North School Street in Kalihi on a city bus and responded with 3 units staffed with 11 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 12:38 p.m. to find multiple patients affected by a hazardous chemical.
It was reported that a bus passenger sprayed an unknown chemical which made other riders feel sick. HFD personnel made patient contact at 12:42 p.m. and transferred medical care of two passengers to Emergency Medical Services at 12:45 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
