HIGH-RISE BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN MAKAHA

On January 30, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 9:12 a.m. and responded to a building fire at 84-740 Kili Drive in Makaha with 10 units staffed with 35 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 9:21 a.m. to find smoke and flames visible from the 16th floor of a high-rise residential building.

Fire fighters secured a water supply, commenced an aggressive fire attack. Searches were completed to confirm no occupants were inside the residence and fire did not spread to adjacent units. The fire was brought under control at 9:43 a.m. and fully extinguished at 10:08 a.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
