On February 13, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 5:20 p.m. and responded to an injured hiker on the Olomana Trail in Kailua with 5 units staffed with 15 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 5:30 p.m., established command and secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.
It was reported that a male hiker in his 20s fell and was unable to descend the trail on his own. Air 1 inserted HFD personnel near the hiker’s location at 6:04 p.m., where they conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support. Air 1 then safely airlifted the injured hiker to the landing zone at 6:24 p.m., where medical care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
