HIGH-RISE BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN ALA MOANA

On February 21, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:01 a.m. and responded to a building fire at 1631 Kapiolani Boulevard in Ala Moana with 6 units staffed with 26 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 10:05 a.m. to find the odor of smoke from a 45-story residential building .

Fire fighters secured a water supply and initiated high-rise operations. Upon investigation, it was discovered that a small fire within a residential unit was extinguished by the building’s sprinkler system.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
