On March 3, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 2:02 a.m. and responded to a building fire at 85-0245 Ala Akau Street in Waianae with 8 units staffed with 24 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 2:10 a.m. to find a two-story, multifamily residential building with fire on the first floor.
Fire fighters initiated an offensive fire attack and completed a search to confirm no occupants were inside the two-story unit that was involved in fire. The fire was declared under control at 2:16 a.m. and fully extinguished at 2:30 a.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported. The American Red Cross was notified to assist the displaced occupants of the fire unit.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
