On March 5, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 12:23 p.m. for two missing dogs reported near the Pali Notches Trail in Nuʻuanu and responded with 5 units staffed with 15 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 12:32 p.m., established command and secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.
It was reported that two dogs were separated from their owners and had been missing for two days. Earlier today the owner was able to receive notifications of the dogs’ location through a GPS locator and the HFD was notified. Rescue personnel were inserted near the dogs’ last known location where they began a ground search. Once the dogs were located, they were packaged for an air extraction. Both dogs were safely airlifted to the nearby landing zone at approximately 4:40 p.m. where they were reunited with their owner.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
