TWO-ALARM RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN EWA BEACH

On March 22, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:10 a.m. for a building fire near 91-351 Ewa Beach Road in Ewa Beach and responded with 11 units staffed with 40 personnel. The first unit arrived at 10:19 a.m. and observed light black smoke and flames coming from the carport of a small two-story residential structure and upgraded the incident to a two-alarm response, requesting additional resources, including a Hazardous Materials unit.

Firefighters established a water supply and initiated an aggressive interior attack, applying water to the fire by 10:23 a.m. The fire was quickly declared under control at 10:29 a.m. and extinguished at 11:45 a.m. Primary and secondary searches confirmed that no occupants remained inside — all residents had safely evacuated on their own and did not require medical attention. Crews then conducted overhaul operations to extinguish any remaining hot spots and check for hidden fire within walls and other concealed spaces, ensuring the fire had not spread further within the structure.

All HFD personnel were accounted for, and no injuries were reported.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
