UPDATE: CAUSE OF TWO-ALARM RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE IN EWA BEACH WAS ACCIDENTAL

UPDATE: The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) Investigator has classified the cause of the fire that occurred on March 22, 2026, at 91-351 Ewa Beach Road in Ewa Beach, as accidental. The fire originated in the carport and the ignition source was determined to be the Lithium ion batteries of an e-bike. The e-bike, identified as a RAEV Bullet GTX, was being stored in the carport next to a 2018 Tesla Model X. The bike was not charging and had not been modified in any way.  A report has been filed with the Consumer Product Safety Commission regarding this make and model of e-bike. The Tesla Model X and another vehicle were total losses. The total fire loss estimate is $336,000, $281,000 to property, and $55,000 amongst the lost contents.
