INJURED HIKER RESCUED FROM THE LANIKAI PILLBOX TRAIL IN KAILUA

On March 28, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 12:49 p.m. and responded to an injured hiker on the Lanikai Pillbox Trail in Kailua with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 12:58 p.m. and ascended the trail on foot. An additional unit secured a landing zone nearby to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a female in her 50’s was hiking on the trail, suffered an injury and could not continue on her own. Rescue personnel arrived at the injured hiker’s side at 1:09 p.m., performed an initial medical assessment, provided basic life support treatment and prepared her for extraction. Air 1 hovered over the open area, hoisted her safely onboard, and transported her to the nearby landing zone where medical care was transferred to the Emergency Medical Services at 1:43 p.m.
