UPDATE: The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) Investigator has classified the cause of the fire that occurred on March 30, 2026, at 91-1016 Pakaweli Street in Kapolei, as accidental. The fire originated on the front patio of the home and the ignition source was determined to be from the embers of an unattended barbecue grill cooking fire. At the time, high winds caused embers from the fire to blow into the front patio area where several wicker material furniture items ignited. The total fire loss estimate is $163,000, $160,000 to property, and $3,000 amongst the lost contents.
