HIGH-RISE BUILDING FIRE IN HONOLULU WAS ACCIDENTAL

UPDATE: The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) Investigator has classified the cause of the fire that occurred on April 4, 2026, at 1541 Kalakaua Avenue in Honolulu, as accidental. The fire originated in the living room of the unit and the ignition source was determined to be from the mechanical failure of a box fan motor. The total fire loss estimate is $75,000, $72,000 to property, and $3,000 amongst the lost contents.
