TWO-ALARM RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN WAIMANALO

On April 9, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 3:05 a.m. and responded to a building fire at 41-928 Oluolu Street in Waimanalo with 10 units staffed with 39 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 3:13 a.m. to find a two-story residential building with a working fire.

Fire fighters secured a water supply and initiated an offensive fire attack which had fire and smoke coming from the garage.  A search was completed to confirm no occupants were inside of the structure involved. Hazmat was called to secure a 125 lb LPG tank exposure.  The fire was declared under control at 3:58 a.m. and fully extinguished at 4:12 a.m. 

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported. 

The American Red Cross was requested to assist with the family. 

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
