RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN MAKAKILO

On April 25, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 12:16 a.m. and responded to a building fire near 92-564 Palailai Street in Makakilo with 10 units staffed with 39 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 12:21 a.m. to find the garage of a single-story residential structure fully involved in smoke and flames.

Fire fighters established a water supply and initiated an offensive fire attack with handlines, quickly bringing the fire under control at 12:27 a.m. The fire was declared fully extinguished at 12:55 a.m.  All searches confirmed that no occupants were inside the structure at the time of the incident.  Firefighters then conducted overhaul operations to extinguish remaining hot spots and check for hidden fire within walls and other void spaces, ensuring the fire had not spread.

All HFD personnel were accounted for, and no injuries were reported.

An HFD Fire Investigator has been assigned to determine the origin and cause of the fire and to assess the extent of the damage.  An update will be provided once the final investigation report is complete.
