RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN MAKAKILO

On May 19, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 1:37 a.m. and initially responded to a building fire at 92-862 Welo Street in Makakilo with 7 units staffed with 23 personnel.  The first unit arrived on scene at 1:43 a.m. and found an extinguished fire at a two-story residential structure. 

Firefighters initiated overhaul procedures with the initial engine company and an aerial company, while releasing all other resources.  The fire was declared fully extinguished at 2:34 a.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for, and no injuries were reported.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the origin and cause of the fire, as well as to assess damage estimates. An update will be provided upon completion of the final investigation report.
