On August 26, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) responded to a pair of lost hikers at the Ehukai Pillbox Trail in Sunset. 5 units, staffed with 16 personnel were dispatched at 1:10 p.m. The first unit arrived on scene at 1:15 p.m. and secured a landing zone.
The hikers’ location was triangulated by cellphone and visual confirmation was made via Air 1. HFD personnel were at their side by 2:06 p.m. and reported two female visitors in their 20’s. After performing a medical assessment and confirming no injuries, HFD crews escorted the hikers out by 3:17p.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
