On October 4, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 2:07 p.m. and responded to a sign of smoke near Kaukamana Street and Kulaaupuni Street in Mā’ili with 5 units staffed with 14 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 2:17 p.m. to find a 40-foot shipping container involved in fire.
Fire fighters used tanker apparatus for water supply and initiated an offensive fire attack. The fire was declared under control at 2:19 p.m. and fully extinguished at 2:51 p.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
