UPDATE: CAUSE OF RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE IN AIEA WAS ACCIDENTAL

The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) Fire Investigator has classified the cause of the fire that occurred on October 17, 2026, at 99-503 Iwaiwa Street in Aiea as accidental. It was determined that the fire originated in the living room when a candle ignited synthetic flowers and decorative cloth. The estimated fire loss is $1,016,000, including $986,000 in property damage and $30,000 in damaged contents.
