HFD ASSISTS HPD WITH A SUSPICIOUS PACKAGE IN KAKA’AKO OFFICE

On October 26, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 12:50 p.m. to assist the Honolulu Police Department (HPD) with a suspicious package in a Kaka’ako office and responded with 3 units staffed with 11 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 12:54 p.m. to investigate the situation.  The second-arriving unit established command to coordinate operations.

It was reported that a suspicious package was discovered by an office employee and that the occupants had been evacuated. Once law enforcement declared the scene secure, personnel from the HFD’s Hazardous Materials unit conducted air monitoring in the unit and surface sampling of the surrounding office space.  All tests came back negative for any hazardous materials.

There were no reports of symptoms or any indication that a hazardous material was present.

Once the HazMat unit determined there were no hazardous materials present, custody of the scene and package were transferred to HPD.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
