On November 1, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 5:59 p.m. and responded to a lost hiker on the Manana Trail with 6 units staffed with 18 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 6:15 p.m., established command and ascended the trail on foot. The second-arriving unit secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.
It was reported that an uninjured hunter got separated from his group, had been hiking for nine hours and was unable to find the trailhead on his own. Air 1 landed near the hunter’s location where he was loaded into the aircraft and transported to the nearby landing zone. En route, it was confirmed that he was uninjured and medical treatment was declined.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
