The 112th FFR Class commenced its training on November 15, 2021. The success of the Recruit Training Program is due to the many instructors from the Training and Research Bureau, other HFD divisions and fire suppression forces, and third-party evaluators who provided a broad spectrum of fire service education and training. The FFRs underwent 1,440 hours of rigorous instruction over 38 weeks. All FFRs are now certified to the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress Fire Fighter I and II, hazardous materials awareness, and operations levels; basic driving skills; and the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians.
The following four awards were presented at the graduation:
- Superior Performance in Drills
- Excellence in Scholastic Achievement
- Most Inspirational FFR
- Outstanding FFR
This was the first time the media was invited to attend the HFD graduation since the pandemic. The event was also live-streamed and photos will be available on the HFD’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
