TWO-ALARM RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN EWA BEACH

On December 31, 2023, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at
12:09 a.m. for a building fire near 91-295 Hanapouli Circle in Ewa Beach and responded
with 10 units staffed with 35 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 12:16 a.m. to
find smoke and flames emanating from a vehicle that was parked under a three-story
residential building. The flames from the vehicle fire extended to the upper
floors of the building.

Fire fighters secured a water supply and initiated an aggressive fire attack with
handlines to bring the fires from the two vehicles and second and third floors of the
building under control at 12:34 a.m. All searches for occupants confirmed
that there was no one in the building during the incident. Overhaul techniques were
performed to look for hidden fire in void spaces of the building and to ensure the fire did
extend into neighboring homes. The fire was extinguished at 1:47 a.m. All HFD
personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.

The HFD Fire Investigator was requested to determine the origin and cause of the fire as
well as provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final
investigation report is complete.
