On January 1, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 8:31
p.m. for a building fire near 3331 Paty Drive in Manoa and responded with 10 units
staffed with 35 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 8:38 p.m. to find smoke and
flames emanating from a three-story residential building.
Fire fighters secured a water supply and initiated an aggressive fire attack with
handlines to bring the fire under control at 8:50 p.m. All searches for occupants
confirmed that there was no one in the building during the incident. Overhaul
techniques were performed to look for hidden fire in void spaces of the building in which
the fire started and to ensure the fire did not extend into neighboring homes. The fire
was extinguished at 9:27 p.m. All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of
injuries.
The HFD Fire Investigator was requested to determine the origin and cause of the fire as
well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final
investigation report is complete.
