On January 1, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 12:28
p.m. for an injured hiker on the Koko Head Crater Rim in Hawaii Kai and responded
with 6 units, staffed with 17 personnel. The first HFD unit arrived at the scene at 12:32

second unit secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.
It was reported that a female visitor in her 30s fell, suffered an injury and was unable to
return to the trailhead on her own. HFD personnel arrived at the hiker’s location at 1:11

transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 1:29 p.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
