CAUSE OF BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN EWA BEACH WAS ACCIDENTAL

UPDATE: The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) Investigator has classified the cause of
the fire that occurred on December 31, 2023 at the updated address of 91-293
Hanapouli Circle in Ewa Beach as accidental. The area of origin was an open carport
and the point of origin was the battery terminal of a 2017 Toyota Rav4. The damage
estimate is $901,000 to the property and $50,000 to the contents. There was also an
additional $4,000 in damage to the cars in the adjacent carport and paint on the
structure directly across from the incident structure.

increased awareness, perhaps incidents of this nature can be prevented.
