RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN WAIPIO

On February 19, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 5:16
p.m. for a building fire at 94-098 Manawa Place in Waipio and responded with 7 units
staffed with approximately 23 personnel. The first unit arrived at the scene at 5:22 p.m.
to find smoke emanating from the first floor of a two-story townhouse.

Fire fighters secured a water supply and commenced an offensive fire attack. The fire
was brought under control at 5:27 p.m. and extinguished at 5:37 p.m. All HFD personnel
were accounted for with no reports of injuries.

The American Red Cross was requested to assist the two individuals who were
displaced from their home.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause and to
provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report
is complete.
