HIKER RESCUED FROM PAUAO TRAIL IN HAUULA

On February 19, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 1:49
p.m. for a hiker on the Pauao Trail in Hauula and responded with 5 HFD units staffed
with 14 personnel. The first unit arrived at 1:59 p.m., established a command post and
secured a nearby landing zone at Swanzy beach park to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a female became lost the previous day, slept on the mountain
overnight, and though uninjured, was unable to descend the trail on her own. HFD
personnel made contact with the hiker at 2:40 p.m., and prepared her for an air
extraction. The hiker was then safely airlifted to the landing zone at 2:53 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
