SURFER RESCUED AT CHINA WALLS

On March 18, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 4:40 p.m. for a surfer in distress off of China Walls in Hawaii Kai. The HFD responded with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived at the scene at 4:48 p.m., established command and found bystanders assisting an injured surfer in the water.

HFD and Ocean Safety personnel assisted the surfer until the patient could be transferred to the HFD rescue boat. HFD rescue personnel proceeded to the Hawaii Kai boat ramp where the surfer was transferred to Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
