On March 20, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 12:23 p.m. for an injured hiker on the Lulumahu Falls Trail in Nuuanu and responded with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 12:31 p.m., established command, ascended the trail on foot and secured a landing zone to prepare for air operations.
It was reported that a female in her 20s suffered an injury and was unable to return to the trailhead on her own. Air 1 inserted rescue personnel to the hiker’s location, conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support. The hiker was then safely transported via Air 1 to the landing zone where medical care was transferred to the Emergency Medical Services at 1:17 p.m.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
