CAUSE OF HIGH-RISE APARTMENT FIRE IN MCCULLY WAS ACCIDENTAL

UPDATE: The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) Investigator has classified the cause of the fire that occurred on March 25, 2024 at the updated address of 2724 Kahoaloha Lane in McCully as accidental. The point of origin was the heating element of the stove. The fire was due to butane cartridges that were temporarily placed on the stovetop which was, then, inadvertently turned on. The damage estimate is $110,000 to the property and $10,000 to the contents. There was also an additional $40,000 in water damages and damages due to falling debris.
