RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN KAIMUKI

On April 3, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 1:31a.m. for a residential building fire near 1167 20th Avenue, and responded with 6 units staffed with approximately 22 personnel. The first unit arrived at 1:37 a.m. and found smoke coming from an unoccupied, boarded up two-story structure. Fire fighters began a fire attack, search for occupants, and opening up the structure for ventilation. At 1:56 a.m. a second alarm was added for a total of nine units and 39 personnel.

The fire was brought under control by 2:12 a.m. Primary and secondary searches for occupants were completed with no persons found. The fire was extinguished at 2:21 a.m.

The scene was left to HFD’s Fire Investigator to determine the fire’s origin and cause. All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.
