FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN WAIANAE

On April 3, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 11:46 a.m. for a brush fire near 86-534 Paheehee Road in Waianae and responded with three units staffed with approximately nine personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 11:55 a.m. to find one 40-foot storage container on a trailer, one office trailer, multiple mattresses and tires on fire. The incident was, then, upgraded to a building fire and eight additional units were dispatched.

Fire fighters commenced an offensive fire attack and had water on the fire within one minute. The fire was declared under control at 12:01 p.m. and fully extinguished at 2:00 p.m.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause and to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
