DISTRESSED SWIMMERS RESCUED IN WATERS OFF SPITTING CAVES

The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 11:23 a.m. for swimmers in distress in waters off of Spitting Caves in Hawaii Kai and responded with 6 units staffed with approximately 17 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 11:31 a.m. to find four males, all in their 20’s, in the water.

Fire fighters entered the ocean and escorted the swimmers away from the rocks until HFD’s Rescue Boat and an Ocean Safety jetski were able to secure the swimmers onboard. All swimmers were transported back to the Moanalua Bay Boat Ramp and care was transferred to Emergency Medical Services at 12:04 p.m.

HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.
