HIKER RESCUED OFF OF TRIPLER RIDGE TRAIL IN MOANALUA

On April 16, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 3:31 p.m. for a distressed hiker off of the Tripler Ridge Trail in Moanalua and responded with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel. The first HFD unit arrived at 3:42 p.m. and secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for search and rescue operations by air.

The solo female hiker was located in cloud cover on the Tripler Ridge Trail and could not make her way down the mountain. Air 1 inserted rescue personnel to the hiker’s location where the hiker was assessed and found to be uninjured. The hiker was then safely airlifted to the nearby landing zone at the Kaneohe District Park at 4:36 p.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
