RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN KAILUA

On April 22, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 1:04 p.m. for a building fire at 16 North Kalaheo Avenue in Kailua and responded with 10 units staffed with approximately 38 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 1:08 p.m. to find smoke emanating from a two-story residential structure.

Fire fighters secured a water supply and commenced with an offensive fire attack. A primary and secondary search confirmed there were no occupants in the structure at the time of the fire. The fire was declared under control at 1:57 p.m. and fully extinguished at 2:06 p.m.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause and to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
