On September 9, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a call from the U.S. Coast Guard at 4:37 p.m. and responded to a boater in distress offshore of Barbers Point with 5 units staffed with 13 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 4:53 p.m. to investigate.
It was reported that a 42-foot boat was disabled approximately 1.5 miles offshore of Barbers Point. The HFD launched their rescue boat and made their way to the disabled vessel’s location where they confirmed one soul was onboard and uninjured. The rescue boat then towed the disabled vessel and safely transported the boater to Kewalo Boat Harbor.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no reports of injuries.
