On September 9, 2024, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 7:05 p.m. and responded to a chemical odor at 94-1210 Kahuaina Street in Waipahu and responded with 3 units staffed with 11 personnel.
The first unit arrived at 7:13 p.m., established command and determined, upon investigation, that a chemical odor was coming from an unpermitted spray booth. One person at the scene reported difficulty breathing. The HFD assessed the patient and transferred care to Emergency Medical Services. The HFD Hazardous Materials Unit confirmed the chemical odor had dissipated and monitored the air with air monitoring equipment.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
