On February 8, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 6:11 p.m. and responded to a missing swimmer at China Walls in Hawai‘i Kai with five units staffed with 14 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 6:17 p.m., established command, and inserted personnel into the water to search for the missing swimmer.
It was reported that a 20-year-old male dove into the water with several of his friends and did not resurface. HFD personnel made found the missing swimmer at 6:22 p.m. and were assisted by the Honolulu Ocean Safety Department in bringing the swimmer via their jet ski to the Maunalua Boat Ramp where medical care was transferred to the Emergency Medical Services at 6:29 p.m.
