HIKER RESCUED FROM THE WILIWILINUI RIDGE TRAIL IN WAIALAE AREA

On March 4, 2025, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 1:27 p.m. and responded to a hiker in distress on the Wiliwilinui Ridge Trail in the Waialae area with 5 units staffed with 14 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 1:42 p.m. and secured a landing zone to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a female hiker in her 20s suffered an injury and was unable to safely descend the trail on her own. Air 1 inserted HFD personnel at the hikers’ location near the top of the trail at 2:14 p.m., conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support. The hiker was then safely airlifted to the landing zone where medical care was transferred to the Emergency Medical Services at 2:31 p.m.
