LOST HIKERS RESCUED OFF OF THE MANANA RIDGE TRAIL IN PEARL CITY

On March 4, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 3:13 p.m. and responded to a lost hiker off of the Manana Ridge Trail in Pearl City with 6 units staffed with 17 personnel.  The first unit arrived on scene at 3:26 p.m. and secured a landing zone nearby to prepare for a search and rescue operation by air.

It was reported that an adult male and an adult female were hiking overnight and ended up lost.  Air 1 was able to arrive in the area and locate the hikers on the trail and then lowered rescuers nearby.  Rescuers arrived at their side at 3:52 p.m., performed an initial medical assessment, and prepared them for extraction.  Air 1 hovered over the open area, hoisted the hikers safely onboard, and then safely transported them to the nearby landing zone at 4:10 p.m. where medical care was transferred to the Emergency Medical Services.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
