On April 13, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 10:11 a.m. and responded to a building fire reported at the intersection of Naio Street and Houghtailing Street in Kalihi with 6 units staffed with 22 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 10:16 a.m. to find a two-story residential building with light smoke emanating from the second floor of the structure.
Fire fighters established a water supply, forced entry into the structure, and initiated an offensive fire attack. The fire was quickly brought under control and was fully extinguished at 10:33 a.m. It was reported that the residence was abandoned and fire fighters confirmed that there were no occupants inside the structure.
All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported.
An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
