TWO-ALARM RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN PEARL CITY

On April 18, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 8:41 a.m. for a building fire reported at 1702 Hoolana Place in Pearl City and responded with 11 units staffed with 40 personnel. While en route to the scene, responding units observed a significant smoke column rising into the air and upgraded the incident to a second-alarm assignment, requesting additional resources before arrival. The first unit arrived on scene at 8:47 a.m. and reported flames from the roof and the rear of a single-story residential house.

Firefighters secured a water supply and initiated an aggressive offensive fire attack. Initial reports indicated all occupants were out of the structure which was confirmed during operations. Fire fighting operations were conducted from Hoolana Place and Waimano Home Road. The fire was brought under control at 9:13 a.m. extinguished at 10:22 a.m. Firefighters then conducted overhaul operations to extinguish remaining hot spots and check for hidden fire within walls and other void spaces, ensuring the fire had not spread further.

All HFD personnel were accounted for, and no injuries were reported.

The HFD Fire Investigator was requested to determine the origin and cause of the fire and to assess damage. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the displaced resident. An update will be provided upon completion of the final investigation report.
