RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE IN WAIʻANAE WAS ACCIDENTAL

UPDATE: The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) Investigator has classified the cause of the fire that occurred on May 12, 2026, at 86-408 Pūhāwai Road in Waiʻanae, as accidental. The fire originated in a bedroom of the home, where smoldering paper materials ignited a mattress. The total fire loss estimate is $250,000, $245,000 to property, and $5,000 amongst the lost contents.
