RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN WAIʻANAE

On May 12, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 2:48 p.m. and responded to a building fire at 86-408 Pūhāwai Road in Waiʻanae with 8 units staffed with 24 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 2:52 p.m. to find a fire at the rear of a small, single-family residence.

Fire fighters secured a water supply and initiated an offensive fire attack. The fire was declared under control at 3:07 p.m. and fully extinguished at 5:00 p.m. 

The American Red Cross was notified to assist the four displaced occupants of the home. All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries reported. 

An investigation has been initiated to determine the fire’s origin and cause as well as to provide damage estimates. An update will be sent out once the final investigation report is complete.
