RESIDENTIAL BUILDING FIRE EXTINGUISHED IN KĀNEʻOHE

On May 11, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 5:58 a.m. and responded to a building fire near 47-327 Lulani Street in Kāneʻohe with 9 units staffed with 34 personnel.  While en route, the first responding officer observed a large column of smoke and upgraded the incident to a second-alarm response, requesting additional resources before arrival.  The first unit arrived on scene at 6:10 a.m. and found a single-story residential structure fully engulfed in smoke and flames.  Initial reports indicated the structure was abandoned.

Firefighters secured a water supply and initiated a defensive fire attack using handlines, bringing the fire under control at 6:32 a.m. The blaze was fully extinguished shortly thereafter. Searches of the structure confirmed that no occupants were inside at the time of the incident.

All HFD personnel were accounted for, and no injuries were reported.

An investigation has been initiated to determine the origin and cause of the fire, as well as to assess damage estimates. An update will be provided upon completion of the final investigation report.
