INJURED HIKER RESCUED ON KOKO HEAD CRATER TRAIL IN HAWAIʻI KAI

On June 6, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 7:30 a.m. and responded to an injured hiker on the Koko Crater Trail with 6 units staffed with 19 personnel. The first unit arrived on scene at 7:39 a.m. and ascended the trail on foot.  Additional units established command and secured a nearby landing zone to prepare for air operations.

It was reported that a male in his 30s was injured and unable to descend the trail on his own.  The first HFD unit arrived at the hiker’s location at 7:57 a.m., where they performed a medical assessment and provided basic life support treatment.  Rescue personnel arrived at the hikers location to aid with air extraction preparations at 8:09 a.m.  Air 1 safely transported the hiker to the nearby landing zone, where medical care was transferred to the Emergency Medical Services at 8:26 a.m.

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
