SEARCH FOR MISSING SWIMMERS AT HANAUMA BAY RIDGE TRAIL IN KAI SUSPENDED FOR THE DAY

UPDATE: On June 24, 2026, the Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) resumed the search at 5:17 a.m. for the missing swimmers at the Hanauma Bay Ridge Trail in Hawaii Kai with nine units staffed with 25 personnel.  HFD conducted a coordinated search by land, air (with two helicopters and drones) and ocean (two rescue boats and divers) along with Honolulu Ocean Safety, and the United States Coast Guard. The search area encompassed Maunalua Bay to Diamond Head up to three miles offshore.  HFD suspended search operations at 7:49 p.m. and will resume search operations at sunrise tomorrow. 

All HFD personnel were accounted for with no injuries.
